Despite Beltway disbelief, area National Day of Prayer still set for May 6th (SLIDESHOW)

NORTH CENTRAL OHIO — For the first time in seventy years, there will be no public prayer service at the United States Capitol Building on the National Day of Prayer (NDOP). As the federal government inches closer to a totalitarian state, the separation between Washington D.C. and the rest of the nation broadens. Although the national observance designated by Congress will not be taking place on Capitol grounds, prayer observances on May 6th will still be taking place throughout North Central Ohio.

In one of the largest NDOP observances in the state, only one hundred tickets remain for the Ashland County Community Prayer Breakfast. Scheduled between 6:30-7:59 AM Thursday morning at the Ashland University Convocation Center, the event can also be accessed online from the Ashland County Ministerial Association Facebook. $20 Tickets for a plated breakfast can be purchased by clicking here.

Seating will be limited to three hundred persons in the room.

Other NDOP assemblies will be taking place later in the day throughout North Central Ohio.

The Richland County observance will be taking place outdoors at the Mansfield Central Park Gazebo between 11:30-1:00 pm. The event, sponsored by the Richland Community Prayer Network, will have worship and facilitated prayer by various leaders taking place. Outdoor attire and law chairs are recommended.

The Bellville NDOP observance will take place at 6:00 pm in the old fire station room across from the Bellville Bandstand. The service will be led by area clergy.

The Shelby NDOP observance will also begin at 6:00 pm at the Amphitheater in downtown Shelby. Several guests will be taking part including Mayor Reverend Steve Schag and State Representative Marilyn John. Pastor Doug Tackett will be bringing a message during the service followed by a forty-five minute concert by the local gospel-singing Glory Way Quartet. The event will be live-streamed on Facebook and broadcasted on 88.5 FM. Parking is available around the Central School and football stadium.
