WASHINGTON DC — In 2016, the ‘War on Christmas’ took a dramatic turn. When Donald Trump won the Presidential election, he promised to make the words: “Merry Christmas” popular again. Now he is making it ‘the most wonderful time of the year.’
This month the President made an executive order recognizing Christmas Eve as a federal holiday, resulting in a full day of vacation for federal employees.
At a recent Christmas celebration, President Trump commented that for Americans, Christmas is a time for prayer and worship, for gratitude, goodwill, for peace and for renewal.
“For Christians, this is a holy season, a celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” the President said.
All things considered, prior to President Trump’s arrival, the Obama Administration told the world America was no longer a Christian nation. By the same token, retailers refrained from giving Christmas greetings to shoppers. But in the following Presidency, political correctness has gone by the wayside.
At the White House gala, President Trump went on to say, “The Christmas story began two thousand years ago with a mother, a father, their baby son, and the most extraordinary gift of all: the gift of God’s love for all of humanity.”
He continued, “Whatever our belief, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of this incredible life forever changed the course of human history. There is hardly an aspect of our life today that his life has not touched: art, music, culture, law, and our respect for the sacred dignity of every person everywhere in the world.”
