Jefferson Township candidate not sitting on the fence about his conservative values

Pete Markovic

BELLVILLE — Whether its unvetted Afghan refugees coming to Akron or undocumented illegals overrunning the southern border, one candidate seeking elected office is not sitting on the fence when he says the federal and state governments have let the citizens down.

“When people see government bureaucrats betray the country, many feel helpless,” says Pete Markovic. “But for me, it provokes me to want to serve in the local government because I can do something about that. I am not a part of the elite political class, and I think leaders who are, mistakenly forget they are supposed to serve the citizens.”

“It is important to be informed as a private citizen and to be aware about what is going on in local government. By helping lead a transparent local government, I want to encourage people to be engaged. If we do not stay engaged, we will lose the values of our Clear Fork Valley and maybe lose our country.”

Markovic is running in a race with five other candidates vying for two township trustee positions. The four-year term begins January 1, 2022 and expires December 31, 2026. The three-person Jefferson Township Trustee Board oversees the the Fire Department/ Emergency Medical Services, the road crew, and the township finances. This is the first time Markovic has run for office.

A chiropractor since 1988, Markovic has gone on foreign mission trips to several nations with local churches. He promises to serve the Clear Fork Valley and not be beholden to Silicon Valley.

Pete Markovic, Candidate for Jefferson Township Trustee

“I am a firm believer that your home is your castle and that the Second Amendment protects the First Amendment. My wife and children love this community. Jefferson Township is a safe place to be and great place to raise a family. We have a duty to both GOD and country, and if elected as township trustee, I will not be politically correct.”

Markovic points out the Biden Administration is allowing Afghan refugees to pour into the country and relocating them in communities under the cover of night.

“These refugees have no health screening and they bring their values that undermine our Judeo-Christian culture. On one hand the Deep State claims our country is going thru a pandemic. On the other hand, they are bringing persons across the border with measles and other communicable diseases.”

Markovic’s parents were first generation immigrants who came from Communist Yugoslavia.

“My dad left New Jersey and got a job in Cleveland when I was in sixth grade. My parents used the “front door” to get into America, back when the government had safeguards in place and protected its citizens. Our country is facing its biggest crisis yet. I love this country and will fight for its values.”

Election Day is Tuesday, November 2nd with absentee voting underway. People can vote at the Board of Elections on 1495 West Longview Avenue in Mansfield, or at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 48 Church Street in Bellville.

The Bottom Line:

The Bible says in Exodus 18, “Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear GOD, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens”

  1. Wish this would have published in our newspaper or there had been an open town hall forum where all candidates could have shared their thoughts and beliefs. We need people, in our government, like Pete Markovic.
