Movie Review on “Overcomer” (VIDEO)

From the makers of: War Room (2015), Courageous (2011), Fireproof (2008), Facing the Giants (2006) and Flywheel (2003), comes the Kendrick Brothers’ latest inspirational film entitled: Overcomer.

As Hollywood has boycotted the State of Georgia for passing the Heartbeat Bill, this movie produced in Georgia is worth investing your time and treasure.  I give this movie 5 stars out of 5 stars.

Overcomer is a quality faith-based film based on Chapters 1 and 2 of the Book of Ephesians. The movie is a uniquely impactful looking at the lives of people as they face a point of desperation, and as they encounter Jesus Christ to turn-around their lives. The movie’s message has application for all of us, whether you are a believer or not.

The movie has scenes from a variety of locations including high school gymnasiums, cross country running courses, school board meetings, hospital rooms and even a graveside service.

This fast-paced film will keep you in rapt attention and put you on an emotional roller-coaster. Humor mixes with anger, pain with love, and regret with hope.

The movie wraps you around four main characters:

A winning basketball coach who is humbled when facing the loss of nearly all the starters on his powerhouse team after the town’s primary employer closes its doors.

Another is a desperate, troubled parent-less teenager given a second chance in a private school after her previous expulsion. You will learn later that she shares a history with a very sick and dying man.

And in between all of this is the high school principal who knows the coach and the teenager’s situations and tries to make the best of a very difficult situation.

The characters blend together in a rich interaction between the physical and spiritual. This movie will motivate everyone to seek a relationship with Jesus Christ, who offers the means to overcome the direst of situations.

When I saw the movie on opening weekend, people in the theater roared their approval, spontaneously clapping their hands in appreciation of the film at the end.

Overcomer is showing on Cinemark 14 Mansfield Town Center and Mount Vernon Premiere Theater 7 Go check it out!
